Quick collared cowl

A while back I bought a hank of alpaca yarn at an alpaca farm in Lancaster, PA. Approximately a weight 3 yarn, it is spun from natural black, gray and cream alpaca wool. I envisioned crocheting something rustic that evoked the show Outlander, and after a couple of attempts I eventually came up with this super simple, beginner-friendly cowl with a fold-down collar.

This project truly could not be quicker or easier to make. You simply crochet a rectangle that’s 8″ wide and 36″ long, then fold and stitch it as shown below. A button holds the collar where you want it and also adds a nice accent.

This piece instantly dresses up a long-sleeve T-shirt, and would make a great “Zoom accessory” if you are working from home and doing online meetings.
