I designed this afghan block to honor the brave people of Ukraine. It features a yellow sunflower on a blue background, representing both Ukraine’s national flower and the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
The block shown is 7″ square. It is made with a size H hook and Loops & Threads “Impeccable” yarn in colors Soft Taupe (sunflower center), Butterscotch (sunflower petals) and Clear Blue (background). You can use the weight 4 yarn and colors of your choice; block size may vary slightly depending on the yarn, hook and tension used.
Included are instructions for using the blocks to make this crib-sized afghan.

This is so beautiful, Nina! I will be sure to share it with my crocheting friends.
Thanks Aleeda! 🙂
My neighbor is a young mother from Ukraine. All of her family; parents, grandparents, a great grandmother, her siblings and an uncle and his family are still in Ukraine. I love to crochet. This pattern is exactly what I was looking for to make for her. Hopefully, it will give her a little comfort. Prayers for Peace.
